Lienman Ruben Jones brings versatility to the Portland Boltz

There are times when an opposing player stands out. Sometimes it’s a big play. Sometimes it’s a burst of speed. And sometimes, it’s by simply standing there looking menacing.

“That’s how I first noticed Ruben Jones,” Portland Boltz coach Aaron Fentress said. “He was on another team playing defensive line and looked like he might eat one of our running backs.”

That encounter took place in 2011 when Jones played for the Portland Raiders against the Fentress coached Portland Monarchs. Jones was on the other side of a 66-15 beat down.

“Ruben did all he could,” Fentress said. “He was clearly one of the more dominant players on the field.” READ MORE
